The ADM3251E is a high-speed, 2.5KV fully isolated, single-channel RS-232/V.28 transceiver that operates from a single 5V supply. Because the RIN and TOUT pins provide high-voltage ESD protection, the device is ideal for operation in harsh electrical environments, or where RS-232 cables are frequently plugged and unplugged. There is no need to use a separate isolated DC-DC converter.
ADI's chip-scale transformer iCoupler® technology can be used to isolate logic signals and integrated DC-DC converters simultaneously, so this device provides a total isolation solution.
The ADM3251E is EIA-232E compliant and has data rates up to 460KBPS.
The voltage doubler/inverter uses four external 0.1µF charge pump capacitors, which allows the device to operate from a single 5V supply.
The ADM3251E is available in a 20-pin, wide-body SOIC package and is rated for a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C
